Studio Bright, in collaboration with Polly Harbison Design, Tribe Studio Architects and FJC were selected as one of the shortlisted teams for the Harbourside Darling Harbour redevelopment competition. A mixed-use development comprising a multi-residential tower, commercial, and retail spaces, it also responds to the waterfront typology. Placed at the heart of the scheme, and in the main sightline of the waterfront boulevard, the Studio Bright building has been massaged to respond to its multitude interfaces. The building straddles the former eastern shoreline, its gently articulated volume perched atop sandstone piers, a contemporary companion to its Pyrmont Bridge cousins. It also responds to the sandstone quarries of Pyrmont and wharf structures unique to the Darling Harbour — a nod to pre-industrial context of the site.
