Project info:

The Ngarara Willim Centre is the public face for Aboriginal and Torres Strait lslander peoples within the University, providing a community space and ‘home away from home’ for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who study and work at RMIT University. The project consists of a complete internal re-design of the centre to better accommodate staff and students who utilise the centre. The intent is to provide a range of new spaces that accommodate a variety of uses from communal work and event spaces to more discrete staff and student working areas (tutorial rooms, quiet working and computer rooms, etc). The design has been developed collaboratively with input from the indigenous staff and students at the centre to ensure that a positive and considered outcome has been achieved. The design has been inspired by traditional indigenous practices and customs to provide a generous, comfortable, warm and inviting place for sharing, support and learning at RMIT.
